Our Vineyard Wedding, Phil & Karen
Our Real Weddings feature kicks off with my wedding held this year at Morgansvlei in Tulbagh, a quaint village an hour’s drive from Cape Town, South Africa.
We chose a classic vintage look for our wedding day, with a colour scheme of dusty silver, aubergine purple & spring greens. Our flower selection included a variety of Chrysanthemums, Chinks, Succulents, Roses, Tulips, Proteas, Hydrangeas, Purple Calla Lilies & Orchids. My absolute favourite colour is purple, so I used the Calla Lilies as my inspiration for my Bridesmaid dresses.
We chose South Africa for the guaranteed weather, & it did not disappoint on the day. Planning a wedding from London proved challenging without a wedding planner but we managed to pull it off with a little help from our family & friends.
Our wines & champagne were sourced locally which helped our budget & our menu choice consisted of lamb shank, Cape Salmon, followed by an array of mini desserts served on vintage tea cake stands.
It was a slightly untraditional move but I decided to change into a Malene Birger Sequins number, once the dance floor kicked off. I loved my wedding dress, but could not bear the thought of it being ruined on the dance floor. Not a bad move, as it was a very warm evening & the stretch fabric was welcomed with all the food & champagne consumed!
As most brides will tell you, the day absolutely flies by, so relish every moment celebrating with your loved ones. Our highlights included our chapel choir, the incredible DJ Rene, & staying up until 4am closing our wedding celebration with a cooling dip (some opted skinny!) in the pool.
